Hayley Godard
Hayley Godard is from Yellowknife, NT, and is a member of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation. Raised in the community of Ndilo, NT, as a child, she has always been drawn and passionate about the beauty field and science. Currently, a first-year student enrolled in Centennial College Ontario, School of Community and Health Studies in Toronto, ON, in the Esthetician Diploma Program. Enrolling in this program has helped her understand the value of a career in this field and solidified her interest in earning a Diploma degree as an esthetician to assist her clients in elevating their natural beauty by providing them with exceptional skincare experiences in a peaceful, comfortable space.
“Upon graduation, I plan on achieving a Medical Esthetician degree and eventually able to provide the entire range of professional services offered in today's spas, medi-spas and doctor's offices and have the skills required to successfully operate a private business upon returning to my community to pursue a career in my field. ” Hayley Godard |
Alice JansenAlice Jensen is from Hay River and currently reside on Katlodeeche First Nation. As a second year, she is majoring in Indigenous Studies at the University of British Columbia.

Sikyea MandevilleSikyea was born and raised in Yellowknife, NT. She is a part of the YKDFN and grew up in Ndilo. She attended K’alemi Dene School from the Headstart program up until grade 7. Currently, she is taking a Bachelor of Arts degree at Macewan University located in Edmonton, AB.

Sheryl LiskeSheryl Liske is from the community of N’Dilo and was born and raised in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Currently, she is studying the Native Studies program, third year, at the University of Alberta.

Donovan Evans
Donovan Evans, originally from Yellowknife and raised in the small community of N’dilo, where he helped maintain houses in both Dilo and Dettah. He has interacted with many elders, learning their traditional crafting and hunting methods. Despite the community's quiet and docile nature, Donovan loves the ambiance of a crowded city, finding it rather calming.
French is his first language, learned at Allain St-Cyr school. Subsequently, he learned English at the local Sir John Franklin High School, expanding his education and discovering his passion for computers. This path has steered Donovan towards Computer Science, aspiring to pursue a future career as an Informational Technician (I.T).

Roxanne KotchileaRoxanne Kotchilea, a Tlicho Dene from Behchoko, NT, is currently enrolled in her first year of the Professional Counsellor Diploma Program – Northern Indigenous Counselling Cohort at Rhodes Wellness College. The program began in September 2023 and concludes on July 4, 2025.

Laura GerstnerLaura Gerstner grew up in the small village of Paddockwood, Saskatchewan. She currently lives with her family in Prince Albert where she is working towards a Bachelor of Education through the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program. She is in her second year of the four-year degree program.

Kyle Sangris“I’m very excited to start this two-year Diploma Program in Indigenous Environmental Studies & Sciences in the New Year.
